The Rimon Program
Instructions, Recommendation and Tips about Auditions
Due to the fact that you live in a foreign country we would like to facilitate the process for you.
Therefore, and as a preliminary stage of your acceptance procedure to Rimon, we are interested to hear and watch you singing or playing on your major instrument in order for us to have a better idea of your musical profile. After being accepted to Rimon and upon your arrival to Israel you will undergo further auditions and placement exams which will help us to schedule you at the various courses at your level.
Please video yourself performing 3 music pieces in your preferred style(s) which present you at your best. Be certain that you will be able to study any style of music at Rimon even if you are not mastering it at this moment. Therefore I recommend that you do not play in styles or genres which you are not fluent with. As mentioned before, we are mostly interested to know who you are and learn more about your musicality and potential.
Please make sure that the music you record is of a variety of styles, tempos or complexities (i.e. Jazz versus Rock, Classical versus Latin, Ethno versus Pop, a ballad versus a fast tune etc.)
Also, please make sure to be accompanied by either a playback or live musicians.
You may, as well, use a video from a live performance you may have had in the past.
Please note that there is no need for a studio quality recording. A home recording is sufficient as long as you may be heard clearly enough.
If you play on more then one instrument please send us the above mentioned 3 tunes on each of those instruments.
You may either send me a DVD to the address bellow or send me an e-mail with a video file or a link to “My Space” or “You-Tube” where you may be watched.
It is also important to bring to your attention that Rimon is not a claasicaly oriented school.
We do not have classical ensemble and classical performance courses.
If you are a classical player and interested in learning other styles you might start it from step 1in the non classical genres and be eligiable only for private lesson and technique lab on your instrument.
If you do not play at all on any instrument, we will not take upon ourselves to teach you an instrument from the very beginning. However, you may still be accepted to Rimon and study theory, composition, listening and analysis and music technology courses.
I am looking forward to hear your music soon.
Please feel free to contact me for any further question you might have.
Best Wishes
